Instructional Coaching NIC Deep Dive: Sifting and Sorting Student Data
HCOE
The Instructional Coaching NIC (Network Improvement Community) meets once a month as an opportunity for instructional coaches to hone their skills and support each other. Coaches gather to build a common language and framework for foundational understanding, skills and pedagogy as Instructional Coaches. ArtSEL led one of the Deep Dives on Sifting & Sorting Student Data. The session began with a grounding that encouraged participants to reflect on their values as a coach and share them with a partner. The session also included the Making Thinking Visible strategy Color, Symbol, Image as a tool to engage with the content in a way that participants could express themselves artistically and emotionally. Participants then sorted their work as a way to engage with the practice of sifting and sorting.
